Forest School Training
Forest School Learning Initiative offers a wide range of training courses, to suit aspiring Forest School Leaders at every level.
Any student wanting to complete a Level 2 training course are welcome to attend any of our Level 3 training course dates. The course will be structured to incorporate the Level 2 training and will be over four days.

Meet the Team
Chris trained as a forest school Leader in 2000 during her time with a local further education college. Chris' experience is wide-ranging, having run forest school sessions with children aged 2 years to 18 years and with children who have learning difficulties. Chris has extensive experience working in and developing urban forest schools - especially in London where she has worked to develop forest schools in some of the city's most deprived boroughs. Chris is absolutely passionate about Forest school because of the amazing impact she sees it have on children and young people, as well as adults with learning disabilities. Chris has two sons and enjoys riding, horse racing and walking.
Tracy trained as a forest school Leader in 2002 and led sessions at the playgroup she worked in for 13 years. Tracy joined the team in 2010 and is a regular tutor in London . Tracy carries out weekly sessions now in a local primary school and in her time off enjoys walking her dog and cycling.Tracy has a son and daughter.
Tracy trained as a forest school Leader in 2010, and she has led sessions in a playgroup, an independent school and currently in a school for children with special needs. Tracy joined the FSLI team full time in September 2014, having worked with us part time before this. Tracy has a grown up son and younger daughter, and enjoys supporting her daughter in riding competitions.
A primary school teacher by training, Jenny has been practicing Forest School for more than 10 years delivering sessions to a wide variety of ages and abilities. Like all our tutors, Jenny takes weekly Forest School sessions with children in local schools, and also leads our training courses for teachers and childcare professionals, in inner city London and elsewhere. Jenny is based in the north west, and is mum to three energetic, lively boys.
Formerly a secondary school teacher, Sarah trained as a Forest School Leader in 2012 whilst working as an outdoor education officer at a heritage site. Sarah joined FSLI in 2014 and now takes weekly sessions in two first schools in Gloucestershire.
Sarah has a daughter and son and, in her spare time, enjoys sewing and making jewellery.
Rob is about to start his final year at university, studying Sports Coaching and Physical Education. Rob completed his Forest School Level 3 training two years ago and has taken part in a number of Forest School sessions, as well as assisting on Forest School conferences and training sessions.
Rob assisted during our first visit to Australia last year and he returned with the team in June this year. He may also be going to China this summer to run a Forest School Summer Camp.
Rob is hoping to join FSLI full time in the future, in his spare time he takes part in many different fitness activities, he also adores all sport.
Nicky has many years experience working with young children and has specialised in caring for those with additional needs. She trained as a Forest School Leader in 2015 and led sessions at an independent school for two years, prior to joining FSLI.
Nicky now takes weekly sessions in a number of local schools. She has three grown up children, enjoys gardening and cooking, all sorts of crafts, and walking her golden retriever, Ruby.
