Forest School Training

Forest School Learning Initiative offers a wide range of training courses, to suit aspiring Forest School Leaders at every level.

Any students wanting to complete a Level 2 training course are welcome to attend any of our Level 3 training course dates.  The course will be structured to incorporate the Level 2 training and will be over four days.

Meet the Team

Christina Dee

Chris is the Managing Director of FSLI. She trained as a Forest School Leader in 2000 during her time at Evesham Further Education College. Chris' experience is wide-ranging, having run Forest School Sessions with children aged 2 years to 18 years and with children who have learning difficulties. Chris is one of FSLI's lead tutors and has extensive experience working in and developing urban Forest Schools - especially in London where she has worked to develop Forest Schools in some of the city's most deprived boroughs. Chris is absolutely passionate about Forest school because of the amazing impact she sees it have on children and young people, as well as adults with learning disabilities.Chris developed the Forest School Leader training in China , Australia and Malaysia where we train regularly. 

Chris has spoken at Child Care Conferences all over the world

Chris has two sons and enjoys riding, horse racing and walking.

Tracy Betley

Tracy trained as a Forest School Leader in 2005 and led sessions at the playgroup she worked in for 13 years. Tracy joined the team in 2010, is one of our lead trainers and is a regular tutor in London . Tracy carries out weekly sessions now in local primary schools (including a special needs school) and in her time off enjoys walking her dog and cycling.

Tracy Hayling 

Tracy trained as a Forest School Leader in 2010, and she has led sessions in a playgroup, an independent school, and private Nursery allowing her to gain a myriad Forest School knowledge. Tracy joined the FSLI team full time in September 2014 and is another lead tutor. Tracy has a grown up son and younger daughter, and enjoys supporting her daughter in riding competitions.

Sarah Bennett

Formerly a secondary school teacher, Sarah trained as a Forest School Leader in 2012 whilst working as an outdoor education officer at a heritage site. Sarah joined FSLI in 2014 and now takes weekly sessions in schools in Worcestershire and Gloucestershire. Sarah has a daughter and son who take up the majority of her spare time! But also enjoys sewing and making jewellery.

Robbie Dee

Robbie has a First Class Honours Graduate in Sports Coaching and Physical Education. Rob completed his Forest School Level 3 training in 2016 and leads a number of Forest School sessions. He is a growing asset to the company, leading on more parts of the training and assisting on Forest School conferences. Robbie has assisted on multiple Australian Training Courses and is very excited to expand FSLI to new markets and audiences.Robbie leads all our Website management and Social Media.

Robbie loves participating in many sporting activities in his spare time.

Michelle Hughes 

Michelle is one of FSLI's Secretery's who is based in our office in Gloucestershire, England. She is a bubbly character, always smiling, and will most commonly be the person at the end of the phone when you ring the office. 

Outside of FSLI, Michelle loves spending time with her son and keeping up with his hobbies. She also loves reading, cooking, and biking (when the weathers nice!).

Dawn Albutt

Dawn is a part time Secretery for FSLI, however, still a vital part of the FSLI team. In conjunction with Michelle, Dawn helps to make sure training, conferences, and sessions run smoothly.  

When Dawn is not in the FSLI office, she helps to run the family farm in the cotswolds. When Dawn does have a spare minute from the endless jobs on the farm, she loves to cook (You need to try her cooking!). She also loves to walk over local hills with the dogs, gardening, and socialising with friends.
